Introducing our co-hosted PhD in partnership with PIER

At CameraForensics, we’re devoted to a mission to transform online imaging intelligence by focusing global efforts through powerful technology and collaboration.

As part of our dedication to this cause, we’ve recently joined forces with the Policing Institute of the Eastern Region at Anglia Ruskin University to co-host a PhD project ‘Exploring the trajectories of self-generated images of child sexual abuse material, and avenues for future intervention.’

We’re always looking for ways in which we can further help drive positive change and help in the fight against the exploitation and abuse of worldwide victims online. Currently, Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation is second only to terrorism in its threat and danger to communities worldwide, with more than 70 victims safeguarded each month within the UK. We want to help change this.

Taking place over three years, this funded PhD aims to answer some of the most pressing questions facing investigators and developers alike, such as examining how self-generated images circulate the open and dark web, and at what point it is possible to engage in early intervention activities.

With a focus on analytical research, and significant skills and experience in AI/ML, Big Data analysis, advanced statistical modelling, and more, we’re incredibly excited to be co-hosting this PhD. We hope that, through it, we can continue to help make a difference to victims in global communities, gaining a deeper understanding of how images circulate the web and what we can do to proactively mitigate unnecessary exposure.

Upon acceptance:

“The successful applicant for this project will receive a Dawes scholarship award which covers Home/EU tuition fees and provides a UKRI equivalent minimum annual stipend for three years. The award is subject to the successful candidate meeting the scholarship terms and conditions.”
